Avala Hejje Network
Building a Sisterhood of Women Across Karnataka. Avalahejje means “the footprint of a woman.” Together, we are forging a new path, one where every woman, from cities to villages, is empowered, heard, and stands strong as part of a collective force. We are building a statewide network that nurtures voice, leadership, and gender justice, connecting women across regions, languages, and walks of life. Through this network, we foster solidarity, shared learning, and mutual support, empowering women to lead independent and dignified lives.
Why? Much of the focus on women’s empowerment today remains centered on addressing long-standing problems—domestic violence, sexual harassment, safety concerns, exclusion, financial dependence, and barriers to mobility, education, and jobs. These issues persist across class, caste, and region - while new challenges have also emerged—such as digital risks and a growing erosion of societal values. Yet, the broader ecosystem remains reactive. Efforts are often fragmented, collective action is limited, and few spaces truly center women's aspirations—their hopes to grow, lead, and thrive beyond survival. This is where Avalahejje is different In addition to problem-solving, Avalahejje is about unlocking possibilities—creating a space where women are encouraged to dream bigger, take the lead in their communities, and shape a future rooted in dignity and equality. We need a mindset shift—supporting another woman should come naturally to every woman: instinctive, proactive, and unwavering. That’s why a network like Avalahejje matters. It fosters connection, solidarity, and collective strength. It’s a space where support is always within reach, where women uplift one another, not just in times of challenge, but also in pursuit of their aspirations.
